Sentinel-2 sat stats: planning for Sentinel-2 for GMES.

The Sentinel satellites are specifically designed to support GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security). The European Commission and the European Space Agency are jointly working towards establishing an operational and sustainable EO system in Europe, to supply reliable information relevant for environment and security to European authorities of all levels. Sentinel-2 expects to launch in October 2012 with a service life in orbit is 7.25 years, plus an optional 5 year extension.
