Abstract
The effect of substitution of limestone for gypsum on hydration rate, hydration products, setting time and strength development of [C.sub.3]A, [C.sub.3]S and PC clinker systems were studied separately. Following results were obtained: The hydration of [C.sub.3]A was greatly stayed by gypsum, and that CaC[O.sub.3] accelerated the hydration of [C.sub.3]A. There were ettringite and [C.sub.3]AxCaC[O.sub.3]x11[H.sub.2]O as products of [C.sub.3]A--CaC[O.sub.3]--CaS[O.sub.4]x2[H.sub.2]O paste but no [C.sub.3]A[H.sub.6] was detected. That's the reason why setting time of [C.sub.3]A--CaC[O.sub.3]--CaS[O.sub.4].2[H.sub.2]O paste could be controlled by partial ...
