Recording ancient history
Introduction
When I was invited to write a piece outlining my career for this journal, I was sent a number of previous articles as examples. Reading these, I realised just how far the profession has come since the time when I first studied and worked in the field. The professional world I inhabited then is now ancient history to current readers. Perhaps it is time, therefore, to record some of this history, or at least my recollection of it, before our early beginnings are forgotten.
