TAP water across the Daventry area will be safe to drink by next Friday says Anglian Water, one week earlier than expected.
The company had previously estimated it would take two weeks to flush the cryptosporidium contamination from water mains, but the success of the work has meant a reduction in the schedule.
Anglian Water now believes that 75 per cent of customers affected, mainly those living close to the Pitsford Water Treatment Works where the problem started and those in Northampton, will be told their water is safe to drink without boiling by tomorrow (Friday July 4).
