Dead brothers 'lived in squalid condition'.

THE detective in charge of the case involving two brothers who died in the same house days apart says he was "shocked" and "saddened" by the "squalor" the pair had been living in.

The bodies of John Lightfoot, 52, and his 43-year-old brother, Graeme, were found in Elliott Street, Hartlepool, on Saturday morning.

Post-mortem tests showed they died from natural causes at about the same time and within the past week.

The brothers are understood to have had various medical problems, and were known to have been heavy drinkers.
