HOPES of securing [pounds sterling]760,000 Government funding to modernise Larne's Greenland community centre have been dashed.
The local community group, in partnership with the borough council, had applied for the grant through the Department for Social Development's modernisation capital programme.
However, members of the council's development committee learned last week that, after months of waiting, the bid had been unsuccessful.
With the project aimed at providing much-needed facilities now in limbo, the council is to meet with community stakeholders to discuss the way forward.
