Southwell Minster was packed for the Memorial Service held to celebrate the live of Tony Thorpe, the President of the Nottinghamshire Union of Golf Clubs, who died in early May.
Tributes came from Colin Rawlinson, a past captain at Coxmoor and former colleague in the Nottinghamshire Police, Dr David Hamilton, captain of the British Golf Collectors Society, and Roy Case, president of the English Golf Union and vice-president of the Nottinghamshire Union of Golf Clubs.
On the course, the pressures of the last two weeks finally caught up with Oliver Wilson, who had a nightmare visit across the channel for the Open de France ALSTOM last week.
