CRESWELL - Voters are likely find a city gas tax measure on their Nov. 4 general election ballots, the City Council decided Monday night.

Councilors unanimously directed the city staff to prepare a resolution for a 3-cents-per-gallon tax to fund street maintenance and repair. They also set a July 7 public hearing on the proposal.

If a tax were approved, Creswell would join Coburg, Cottage Grove, Eugene, Oakridge, Springfield and Veneta in charging a fuel tax to help cover maintenance and repair of city streets. Junction City voters last fall rejected a 5-cents-a-gallon gas tax proposal.
