BRITISH horseracing is preparing to stage its own equivalent of Formula 1 motor racing or football's Champions League, with the aim of attracting new fans to the sport through watching on terrestrial television or visiting the seven major racecourses involved.
The countdown to the May 2010 start of the Sovereign Series, a multi-million-pound, pointsbased competition centred on ten, mile to middle-distance Group 1 Flat races, began yesterday, with a London launch hosted jointly by Racing UK and the BHA.
