Turkey launches communications satellite.(TURKEY)

Turksat 3A communication satellite built by Thales Alenia Space was launched on May 30 at the Kourou space industry site which is located on the island of French Guiana.

An Ariane 5 ECA rocket launched the Turksat 3A satellite. This new bird now enables Turksat to provide telecommunication services as well as direct TV broadcasting services across a wider area than existing satellites covering Turkey, Europe, The Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia. With the help of its switchable transponders, Turksat 3A will act as a bridge between Europe and Asia.
