CUSTOMERS visiting the monthly farmers' market at Linton Village College are being encouraged to help cut down on their carbon footprint by swapping plastic bags for re-usable cloth ones.
The market has recently celebrated its fifth year of existence, having begun life at Chilford Hall in April 2003, before moving a year later to its current site.
As part of its continuing development and success the market is asking customers not to use plastic bags but to part with just [pounds sterling]1.65 for one of its cloth bags.
Market organiser Jan Lupton said: "We are cutting down on plastic bags tremendously, so not only are we cutting down on food miles we are cutting ...
