Park trees to be axed.

A strip of horse chestnut trees in Preston's Miller Park which have shaded walkers for generations along the riverside path face the chop.

The row of trees, between the South Meadow Lane entrance and the tram bridge, have become diseased and most are set to be felled.

The trees have become infected with bleeding canker and most of them will be felled during a five-year programme starting this winter.
