Victory for school in road plan.

PUPIL power has forced a town hall rethink over plans to put a zebra crossing on a busy town centre road.

Lancashire County Council caused a storm of protest last year when it suggested putting a crossing on Stanifield Lane in Farington, Leyland.

Parents and staff associated with Farington Primary School complained that, despite years of campaigning for a crossing in the Leyland suburb, it was earmarked for the wrong place.

Headteacher Joanne Ramsbottom said the school was annoyed that it had not been contacted during initial consultations and added the location would put the pupils in more danger.
