THERE are more pleasant ways to cool down on a sunny afternoon, but Alex Cook opted to put himself in the firing line of people hurling wet sponges in the centre of Stamford on Saturday.
His suffering was for a good cause - he was among a queue of volunteers who put themselves in the stocks in Red Lion Square to raise money for a new skatepark.
Their efforts were timed to coincide with the festival parade day and helped to raise [pounds sterling]1,000.
