VALLEY FORGE, Pa. -- Concurrent with the announcement that it had dropped plans to sell its PMSI workers' compensation business, AmerisourceBergen Corp. reported improved revenues and earnings for the second quarter of fiscal 2008.

Net income for the three months ended March 31 rose 3.4% to $133.9 million, or 82 cents per diluted share, from $129.5 million, or 68 cents per share, in the preceding year, when earnings included about $5.7 million in after-tax income from the PharMerica long-term care business that was spun-off in July 2007. Excluding that contribution, earnings would have grown 8.1% over the adjusted $123.8 million recorded in the prior-year period. ...
