For the past several years at the request of Justices Garman and Karmeier I have had the opportunity to speak at the swearing-in ceremonies in both the 4th and 5th Appellate Districts. I preface my remarks to the admittees by declaring I will be presenting their first basic skills course, for which they will get absolutely no CLE credit.
I urge them to join professional legal associations, national, state, and local; obtain malpractice insurance in order to protect not only themselves but also their clients; protect the civil justice system from those who would expound the "big lie" about frivolous lawsuits and judicial hellholes solely for the purpose of poisoning the ...
