A LUNG-bursting sprint to the finish line saw the team from the Rotary Club of Newton Stewart beat the 24-hour challenge to climb 'the three peaks' by a mere six minutes.
The Rotarians - Keith Best, Jim Hamilton, Cliff Hope, Mike Kneeshaw, Martin Marsh, Ken McCubbin, Bob Peace and Bob Simpson completed their attempt to climb Stob Ban, Hellvelyn and Snowdon within 24 hours to raise money for the Sightsavers charity.
A Rotary climber said: "The months of preparation and training finally came to a climax last weekend when the team of eight departed Newton Stewart for Fort William last Friday afternoon in a rather elderly minibus that matched the age of the Rotarians.
