ABBOTT PARK, Ill., March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Abbott Laboratories (NYSE: ABT) and Purdue Pharma L.P. (Norwalk, Conn.) today announced a co-promotion agreement for Purdue Pharma's new patented controlled- release oral analgesic, OxyContin (oxycodone hydrochloride controlled- release) tablets for twice-a-day administration.
Under the agreement, Abbott will promote OxyContin tablets to anesthesiologists, surgeons, emergency physicians and pain management teams in hospitals and free-standing surgical centers in the U.S., beginning in April 1996. Purdue Pharma will continue to market the product to all other physicians.
