The most storied building in hockey history, the Montreal Forum, will soon be closed as the Montreal Canadiens will move into the brand new Molson Centre on Mar 16, 1996. The Canadiens won 24 Stanley Cup titles while playing there. Some of its historic moments are remembered.
It is 6:30 p.m. Montreal time and Scott Johnson and Chip Owens are wearing running shoes. They have driven thousands of miles from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and camped out all night to be the first in line to buy two of 1,700 standing-room-only tickets to see the Canadiens play the Pittsburgh Penguins. For them, coming all that way to see a game in the Montreal Forum is a visit to Mecca.
