A LEEDS vicar is taking up a new role as a modern-day missionary with the aim of winning people back to church in south and west Leeds.
The Reverend Alistair Kaye, who was vicar of Christ Church, Armley, will become Armley Deanery Missioner, with the job of swelling congregations and developing the work of the churches in the community.
He will be working with 17 Church of England churches in the Armley Deanery covering Beeston, Holbeck, Hunslet, Middleton, Armley and Stanningley.
At a special church service on Wednesday next week he will be commisioned into his new job, the first of its kind in the Ripon and Leeds Diocese.
