Most of us have a reason to be grateful, says the Conservative North-East Beds MP.
Well done the NHS in reaching 60! A fine opportunity to think about our good fortune in having it, and please permit me a personal rather than a political view.
We have been closely linked. My father is a former family doctor whose career in the NHS was devoted to the people of Bury.
He was a great example of what we would all wish our GPs to be. He was a pioneer of the concept of a group practice, putting individual practices under the one roof, sharing facilities to make best use of resources and provide treatments which practices on their own might struggle to do.
