IT is hoped Dromore will literally serve as a beacon to other areas with its 11th night celebrations on Friday.
The town's community centre is providing the backdrop for a family-oriented update on traditional July 11 events, long characterised by the burning of bonfires.
Organised by the Lower Iveagh Cultural and Heritage Society as part of a wider Ulster Scots Festival associated with Dromara's Flagship Twelfth demonstration, the event gets underway at 8pm.
In place of the traditional bonfire, the night has been planned around a beacon-lighting ceremony and billed as a family fun night, complete with fireworks display.
