CUMBRIA Chief Constable Craig Mackey has awarded [pounds sterling]500 to neighbourhood police officers and residents in Barrow Island to purchase seating and planters for a community development project.
The money has been awarded from the Police Property Fund, which is financed by the auction of unclaimed lost property and money seized from the proceeds of crime.
This money is then used to fund charitable projects that have an impact on community safety and crime reduction in Cumbria. The only exception is money seized from the proceeds of drugs crime, which is used to fund treatment centres and other drugs-related community initiatives.
