The devastated family of a Preston youngster killed in a tragic car accident today paid tribute to their "loving, caring and happy" son.

Calvin Leary, from Ashton, Preston, was left fighting for his life in hospital after being knocked down by a van at Lane Ends in Ashton at 11.30am on Sunday.

But the 11-year-old's condition deteriorated and he died at 8pm in the intensive care unit of the Royal Preston Hospital.

Calvin's dad, Pete Leary, said: "Calvin's family, friends and school friends are devastated by this tragic loss. Calvin was a loving, caring and happy child who was in his final year ...
