Oil-drilling contractor Atwood Oceanics Inc. said that its subsidiary, Atwood Oceans Pacific Ltd., has conditionally exercised an option to build a drilling rig with a Singapore-based Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd. The rig will be built for a water-depth rating of 10,000 feet. The construction contract is subject to some conditions that must be met before July 30. Financial terms were undisclosed.

Atwood shares closed Thursday down $2.07 to $115.07 in shortened holiday trading. ...
