Committing five errors is a sure way to lose most any night, but not Monday.
The Buffalo Bisons overcame shoddy play in the field to shade the Syracuse Chiefs 8-7 at Dunn Tire Park. The Bisons benefited from a five-run fifth inning, turning a 5-3 Chiefs lead into an 8-5 Buffalo advantage.
Buffalo batted around in the fifth against left-handed starter Bill Murphy and reliever Jo Matumoto for five runs on a home run, four singles, two walks and a hit batter. Asdrubal Cabrera got it going with a single before Andy Gonzalez hammered his seventh home run of the year to tie the game at 5.
