The Greek Cypriot community intends to use EU financial assistance to facilitate the implementation of a potential reunification agreement with the Turkish Cypriots. According to Andreas Trokkos, director of finance and investments in the Cypriot Ministry of Finance, following reunification the northern part of the island, which is now outside the control of the government in Nicosia, will be eligible under objective 1' for EU Structural Funds.
