FORMER Howden MP David Davis has this week said he stands by his actions in resigning his seat and Shadow Cabinet post in order to force a by-election on the issue of the erosion of civil liberties.
None of the other major parties have fielded a candidate but Mr Davis faces competition from 26, mainly one issue, candidates who have stepped up to the challenge from all over the country.
Mr Davis, who had held the Howden and Haltemprice seat comfortably for the past 20 years, shocked the nation by resigning his Shadow Home Secretary post in protest over the Government's plans to extend pre-charge detention of terror suspects to ...
