ALTHOUGH the town is experiencing a quiet period during the school holidays, Callan is hit with "absolute chaos" as cars travel to its three schools.
This point was made by John Bambrick, a member of Kilkenny County Council's transportation committee (SPC 2) on Friday, as he called for greater parking facilities to be made available.
Parking at most schools is a problem during the peak times when students are dropped off or collected, but particularly so in Callan where its two secondary schools and one primary school are in such close proximity.
At one stage there were six rows of cars parked in one location, Mr Bambrick pointed out.
