CASTLECOMER Girls Nat-ional School was recently presented with the regional award for the Department of Education's 'Something Fishy' Project.
The project was organised by Kilkenny Education Centre with support from the local fisheries board.
Primary school children were encouraged to become more aware of life in their local waterways and to look at different fish types in their own local rivers.
Sixteen schools in Kilkenny and Carlow took part in the project and the overall regional prize went to Convent National School, Castlecomer.
