Model School parents are no models when it comes to parking.

DANGEROUS parking outside schools remains a hot topic even during the summer holidays, as local councillors are pleading for drop-off areas to be made safer.

Following a notice of motion by Cllr Martin Brett (FG) asking that Kilkenny County Council address the safety measures at the Model School on the Castlecomer Road in the city, senior executive engineer Frank Gray explained that a 'traffic count' carried out on this stretch of road found that it was used by 750 vehicles over a 24-hour period. Of those vehicles, 144 were on the road between 8 and 9am, and another 112 were on the road between 3 and 4pm.
