On a sweltering summer night at Alliance Bank Stadium, Syracuse Chiefs center fielder Wayne Lydon was the pest who wouldn't buzz off.
The Chiefs' irritant forced a balk, a bad outfield throw and a bases-loaded walk to cobble together three runs in Syracuse's 4-3 win in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday night.
The turning-lemons-into-lemonade act was vital for two reasons. First, Syracuse's offense was outhit by the Bisons 11-6. And in the first game, Buffalo pitchers Matt Ginter, Zach Jackson and Preston Larrison blanked the Chiefs 3-0.
