Most MEPs were literally won over by Nicolas Sarkozy, on 10 July in Strasbourg. Convincing almost to the point of excess, the French president demonstrated his force of character during his visit to the European Parliament. Addressing the chamber to present the priorities of the French Council Presidency, the head of state suggested that he would find a solution to the Lisbon Treaty situation after Ireland's no' between October and December.
