DIFFICULT conditions did not prevent new course records for both men and women being set in this week's Cragg Vale fell race near Mytholmroyd.
Almost 100 runners took on the four mile route which involves 720ft of ascending, and they had to cope with hot and humid conditions at the start followed by a later downpour which made the final descent treacherous.
The race winners were untroubled however with John Brown of Salford and Mary Wilkinson of Bingley, who are both England internationals, clocking new records of 26 minutes, 27 seconds and 31.11 respectively.
