QC assigned values from peer data
Q When looking at an individual laboratory instrument's QC data and comparing that data to a control's peer-group data, what is the best way to assign the instrument mean and standard deviation (SD)? We looked at data from our QC pool. I believe the instrument's assigned mean and SD are too narrowly based on the peer-group data. I also know the instrument's monthly mean and SD are unrealistic because points outside of the instrument's assigned range have been deleted. I want to use the QC values to be assured my assay is working, but I do not want to troubleshoot the assays/instrument unnecessarily.
