Article: Traditional uniform coming back for Melton school?

THURSDAY 8.45AM: Uniforms from the last century are back on the agenda for a school firmly in the 21st.

King Edward VII pupils may soon be wearing the old grammar school tie, blazer and lion crest in place of polo shirts.

The proposed move is linked to the creation of the new 11 to 16 school on the Burton Road campus and would help give it a fresh start, literally smartening up its image.

Assistant principal Tony Pinnock said: "What's perhaps surprising is the suggestion came from pupils. They have started to recognise that at primary level pupils wear polo shirts and sweatshirts. They wanted something smarter that sets them apart."
