NEWPORT NEWS, Va.--Mar. 21--Peninsula residents deserve a say in the secret negotiations between Riverside Health System and Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp., a group of about 100 Newport News physicians says.
In a written resolution passed unanimously by the Newport News Medical Society last week, the physicians pushed for "a public forum to inform the citizens of the lower Virginia Peninsula about the reasons to consider the sale" of Newport News-based Riverside.
As it stands, Peninsula residents have no direct say in whether or not Riverside's board of directors forms a partnership with Columbia/HCA or sells the health system's assets to the Nashville, ...
