The catalogue accompanying this exhibition of new paintings by Nachume Miller is a nod to trendy notions like cyberspace and complexity theory. However, the real context for these large, enveloping fields of pulsating color is the Post-Impressionism of Seurat and late Monet and the lyrical Abstract Expressionism of Joan Mitchell and Helen Frankenthaler. Miller's works evoke landscape metaphors: the shifting play of color over the reflective surface of a lake, the overripe abundance of a well-tended garden, the kaleidoscopic animation of falling autumn leaves.
