Mar. 23--Firstar Corp. said Friday it intends to close three of its Twin Cities offices this summer, including one on the downtown St. Paul skyway, as part of a consolidation in its pending merger with American Bank and American Commercial Bank.
The 17 employees affected by the closing of the three offices will be transferred to other Firstar branches rather than being laid off, said Beverly Erickson, a Firstar spokeswoman.
Scheduled for closing in late June or July are a Firstar office at 386 N. Wabasha in the St. Paul downtown skyway, one at a Minnetonka Cub Foods supermarket and a third in the Minneapolis downtown skyway, Erickson said.
