CAMPAIGNERS have spoken of their disappointment after ministers unveiled proposals to pay less than [pounds sterling]5,000 to sufferers of an asbestos-related condition.
A consultation paper has proposed a "no fault" payout scheme for people with pleural plaques, a scarring of the lungs which can lead to deadly asbestosis and mesothelioma.
However, campaigners criticised the Government for rejecting calls to overturn a ruling which stopped sufferers, who were exposed to asbestos, making claims against insurance companies.
