A SENIOR councillor has put the brakes on a controversial traffic shake-up which would have seen buses making a U-turn in the middle of Westborough.
Cllr Andrew Backhouse, Scarborough Council's cabinet member for transport, said: "I was not comfortable with the proposals at all." Now he has called on EYMS, the company behind Scarborough and District Buses, to provide more information or come up with a better plan.
The shake-up is due to the current bus stops in Somerset Terrace, at the back of the Brunswick Centre, falling foul of the Disability Discrimination Act because of the slope in the road.
