It's a great tragedy that relatively few high-quality commercial recordings exist with the late Lois Marshall, particularly in opera. Although childhood polio severely limited her stage movement, Marshall did, primarily in her early years, sing in specially staged productions of Mozart's Die Zauberflote, Britten's Peter Grimes and Puccini's La boheme and Tosca. She also participated in complete opera broadcasts on CBC Radio of Mozart's Don Giovanni and Beethoven's Fidelio, and sang in public concert performances of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin and Massenet's Therese.
