Death at 70 of Nobel prize winner.

A NOBEL peace prize winner, who married a Scarborough woman, has died at the age of 70.

Professor Peter Bullock was a world renowned soil expert and won the Nobel prize in 2007 as a member of the Intergovermental Panel on Climate Change.

After studying geography at Birmingham University, Prof Bullock came north to Leeds University to study for an MSc in agricultural chemistry.

While in Leeds he met Scarborough girl Pat Stan-didge, who was to be his future wife.

The couple were wed at St Mary's Church, in Castle Road, in 1963 before jetting off to America where Prof Bullock read for his doctorate in agronomy at Cornell University, New York state.
