With an agreement to protect Capitol Records' legendary recording studio from vibrations and damage during construction, the Los Angeles City Council approved development of a new 16-story residential tower next to the historic Hollywood building.

Capitol Records had warned that pile-driving and excavation for the development could threaten the underground recording studio, which was designed by guitarist and sound expert Les Paul and has been used by musicians including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Chris Botti and Natalie Cole.
