Article: Robbery unit gets a month of funding.

Byline: Amanda Lehmert

Jun. 25--GREENSBORO -- The police department's robbery suppression unit is back on the books -- at least for another month.

The City Council on Tuesday asked City Manager Mitchell Johnson to find $83,000 to keep the special force of officers going until the council can meet with a consultant who has written a comprehensive review of the police department. The vote was unanimous.

Johnson said the $83,000 would come from an undetermined part of the police department's budget.

Council members may amend their decision and the police department's budget after they get the consultant's review at 6 p.m. July 7.
