Ryan Zimmerman went 2 for 5 with two doubles Monday night in a rehabilitation assignment for the Single-A Potomac Nationals during their 8-6 loss to the Salem Avalanche.
It was the first game for the Washington Nationals' starting third baseman since May 25. Zimmerman, a former Kellam High and U.Va. standout, has been on the disabled list with a small labral tear in his left (non-throwing) shoulder.
"It was about as good as can be expected," Zimmerman told The Roanoke Times after the game. "It was fun."
