Article: Kitty Aylward, matriarch of a political dynasty, is laid to rest.

The death took place unexpectedly on Friday morning of Mrs Kitty Aylward of Knockmoylan, Mullinavat, the matriarch of the South East's most powerfuil political family.

Kitty, who was 85, was blessed with good health and she led a full and active life up to the very end. Her sudden death came as a great shock to her six sons and three daughters, her extended family, neighbours and friends.

Born Kitty Reade in Crowbally, Mullinavat, she was the widow of the late Fianna Fail Senator Bob Aylward who died in 1974. She was the mother of MEP Liam Aylward and Deputy Bobby Aylward.
