The Ministry of Defence said it placed two contracts worth around 74 mln pounds in the first year with Thales and MBDA (UK) Ltd for the development of six complex weapons projects.

Complex weapons are tactical weapons that rely on guidance systems for precision.

The contracts were awarded as part of the British government's launch of an 'Assessment Phase with Team Complex Weapons', announced by Baroness Taylor at the Farnborough Air Show.
