Residents living near the 200 block of Harris Street may soon see a tall bell tower arise near their homes, but the only ringing they will hear will come from their cell phones. The Eureka Planning Commission unanimously approved a conditional-use permit to construct a 60-foot-tall cell phone tower disguised as a bell tower at 272 Harris St.
The cell phone tower will be built by Verizon on property of the Apostolic Faith Church. The three-legged tower will house a diesel generator for backup power, which will still be visible despite a 6-foot-tall wooden fence that will surround the facility.
