Channel 4 is facing fresh concerns over its grip on UK horse racing following the launch of the Sovereign Series. The competition, due to launch in 2010, could threaten the channel's existing portfolio of races with new broadcast deals.
The problems come just a year after Dubai Holding stepped in to pick up sponsorship of Channel 4 Racing after the Tote pulled out seven months into a three-year deal. Horse racing may have been dropped from terrestrial TV if Dubai had not stepped in.
